I often have found that what works best when communicating with another person is to put yourself in their shoes. Once you understand the reasons why people do what they do, then you are able to communicate more effectively with them.

I just "Tweeted" your blog on Twitter! Love, peace, and positivity to you!

Nice content, thoughts and presentation. I like your blog and I have just voted for your blog in blogger choice awards. I hope you are kind enough to vote for my blog also.

This is excellent! Communication is so important, and such a large part of our life - yet it's easy to overlook many of the things you;re discussing. I especially am drawn in by what you finish with - the idea of being present. How important this is, and how when this truly does happen, the other party really does feel important. Again, a great post!

To me, nonverbal clues are more important than the words being said. Sometimes they don't match each other. The nonverbal is usually more honest.

Patricia - I agree. Nonverbal cues are so important and, unfortunately, these are a lot harder to read that verbal cues. We would all benefit from spending more time thinking about the nonverbal.

BusinessVartha - Thanks for voting for (and visiting) my blog. I will definitely vote for yours as well!

Harold - Thanks so much for "tweeting" my blog. It's great to know that the word is getting out there and more and more people are reading it.

Nadia - Putting yourself in someone else's shoes is definitely a great way to encourage effective communication. If more people did that, I think our world would be a happier place.

Lance - Thanks for commenting. Communication is definitely a vital aspect of our lives and one that often gets overlooked. I'm glad you liked the post!
