Earlier this week, I was tagged by a fellow blogger at The Wisdom Journal and asked to share seven things you don't know about me. Of course, this wasn't necessarily that easy for me. I tend not to want to share personal information about myself on my blog. Opening up isn't really easy for me. So, as you can imagine, it took me awhile to think of seven things I wanted to share...But, after making a list (and crossing off all the things I didn't feel brave enough to share), here's what I came up with...seven things you don't know about me...
- I've never been out of the USA and I just booked a flight to England. In August I'm going to Manchester to visit my cousin for a week. So excited to see her, but so nervous to travel that far!
-
In graduate school, I studied gender and popular culture in California. I focused a lot on how cultural representations of gender impact children at any early age. I miss school -- and California -- a great deal.
-
I am extremely organized and even order the items in my closet by color and sleeve length. I adore reading organization tips and get way too excited when Real Simple arrives in the mail.
-
Last November, I wrote a novel in one month while I was participating in National Novel Writing Month. I hope to do it again this November (and I highly recommend that anyone interested in writing a novel try it too!).
-
I love to create art (through painting and collaging), but I don't do it nearly as often as I would like. I'm currently working on a piece that's focused on positive images and I'm really looking forward to finishing it.
-
When I was a kid, my parents made me take piano lessons. I hated it and dreaded going to my lessons and practicing, but now I really wish I'd stuck with it because I long to be able to play an instrument.
-
I broke a mirror seven years ago and I wonder if I actually had seven years of bad luck now that my life is starting to turn around...Not normally superstitious, but I can't help but wonder...
I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to tag other blogs and ask them to share seven unknown facts about them with their readers, but I'm not all that big on rules. Plus there are so many wonderful blogs that I follow and I'd love to know more about all of them! If you'd like to share seven things about yourself, feel free to leave them in the comments section or post them on your own blo g. A big thank you to The Wisdom Journal for tagging me. It gave me an opportunity to share more about me with my readers, which I tend to be hesitant about and feel that I should do more of.

Very cool list, Dani!
You're just opening up all over the place now, aren't you? I think that's *so* awesome! Before the year is out, I bet there will even be an actual picture of you as your gravatar! :)

First time out of the US, that's gone a be a great adventure for you! I hope you will appreciate differences and that you will come back for more of Europe. Let me know when you come to Paris, I would love to show you hidden marvels :)
It was the same for me with piano, dance... well everything my mother would have loved me to do out of regret of not doing it herself, I would reject. The fuel should be curiosity not regret :)

Jay - Thank you! :) I am opening up, aren't I? I don't know about the picture part though...that makes me pretty nervous! Haha.
Joanna - Yes, it will! I'm looking forward to it. It will be so exciting to be in a new place and to see my cousin again. I would LOVE to go to Paris. Someday... ;) I agree with your statement about curiosity vs. regret. So true!

Dani,
Wow! This must be the new open Dani.
Every time you share a little bit of who you are, I like what I hear. You sound like a really nice person.
I'm waiting for the day when you add a picture to your About page. :)

I agree. Everytime you say more about yourself, I find certain things in common with you! I like what I read more and more!

Great list! Always fun to learn about my blog buddies. Don't worry about going too far...England is awesome. I bet you'll want to explore more after getting your feet wet!

New here...all great stuff I've read so far!
We are kindred spirits (#3). :-)

Roger - It IS the new, open Dani! :) I'm so glad you like what you're hearing. It would be quite a shame to lose readers 'cause I was opening up. Ha! I'm not sure I'll ever get to the picture stage, but we'll see...
Dana - That makes me very happy! Thanks for the comment.
Caroline - Thanks for the encouragement. You're probably right. Once I get out there, I'll want to explore all over the place!
Suzanne - I'm glad I'm not the only one! Thanks for the comment. It's great to know I can connect with my readers.

Oh you will love Manchester! A lot of my family lives there and I was there around three weeks ago. The shopping is great and there is just loads of culture there. Hope the travelling is ok! They are some interesting facts about you. I'm very impressed you complete NaNoWriMo, because I tried it and failed miserably!

love the facts! so interesting ;)

Penny - Oh, you just got me all excited for my trip! :) Yay!! I'm a big fan of shopping so it's great to hear that they have good shopping there. NaNoWriMo was definitely tough, but I really enjoyed doing it. I was really impressed when I read that a fellow blogger (Pink Ink) had gotten her work from NaNoWriMo published. Now THAT is impressive!!
Shannon - So glad you liked them! It's not easy to for me to open up (even in this limited way) so it's so nice to receive such positive feedback about it. Thank you!

Cody - Thanks for coming by and commenting. It's great to have the positive feedback and to know you'll be stopping by again. :)

So we'll be hearing your first piano piece in, say, a year, right? Looking forward to it -- I'll mark my calendar. :)
