Before the light I found the dark
Before tonight I fell apart
Frozen up I´ve realized
That something's gotta change
It took a crash to understand
Time kept slipping through my hands
I never used to know
The sun will shine after the rain
Say goodbye, say goodbye to the way I was before
Say hello, say hello to a new way
I was lost, but I found what I was looking for
Waking up, waking up to a new day
To a new day
I was sleeping in a twisted dream
Dying just to make believe
A pretty situation was far from where I was
But I´m not up for giving up
Lying down and out of luck
My mistakes are in the open and know
I´m finally coming clean
Say goodbye, say goodbye to the way I was before
Say hello, say hello to a new way
I was lost, but I found what I was looking for
Waking up, waking up to a new day
Cause everything, everything ends at the start
I´m healing and feeling all of my scars
Say goodbye, say goodbye to the way I was before
Say hello, say hello to a new way
I was lost, but I found what I was looking for
Waking up, waking up to a new day
To a new day
I was lost, but I found what I was looking for
Waking up, waking up to a new day
To a new day
This song, "New Day" by Tamar Kaprelian, has quickly become one of my favorites. For me, this song is all about hope, about the idea that every day is a chance for change and endless possibilities. I've been thinking about hope a lot lately, mostly because I've been very hopeful. The past year has been a real eye-opener for me. I've made a lot of changes in the past six months or so that have changed me and my life for the better. I used to be hopeless, completely without hope. I never thought things could change. I thought I would spend my life doing the same things, over and over again, always feeling as if I was missing out on something better. I never felt fulfilled. I never felt there was a reason to have hope. I felt, more often than not, that the world was against me and I was too weak to fight it off. But that old me is gone now. Today is a new day.
Today I have HOPE.
Hope is a funny word. Four little letters that mean a whole lot. It has many definitions, but my favorite is this: "to expect with confidence." There is something about hope that is, or should be, confident. It's a belief that the future holds better things for us, great, amazing, exciting things. Now, for someone who is striving to live life in the present moment, hope could be considered a four letter word. It could be considered a way to sit back and do nothing, simply "hoping" something good will happen. But that's not how I think of hope. I think of hope as something that's happening right now, something that we have today so that tomorrow will be better. I believe hope is essential for living in the now, however future-focused it might seem. So, today, I want to direct you to a new place of hope.
While keeping up with posts on Positively Present, I've also been working on a new site -- Hope Springs Internal -- and I'm quite excited to tell you all that my little gem is finally ready to be shared with the world. (Now, don't worry ,this doesn't mean that Positively Present is going be any less fabulous. There's plenty of love to go around!) You may be asking yourself, what is Hope Springs Internal? Well, I'm sure you probably figured this out by now, but you're going to have to hop on over there to see what it's all about. I'd love to hear your comments and feedback (either here or over there) and I'd also love to know what hope means for you. What IS hope? If you're interested in checking out the new site, go to...

Congrats on your launch. Your new project is off to a great start. Passion makes things happen.

"Hope is the feeling that you have that the feeling you have isn't permanent." I don't recall who said it.

Wow! Very cool. Congrats on the new site... Love your thoughts on hope...I need to work on keep hope in the present and not an idea that lies outside in the future.

Both your sites are great, and much needed for those of us who strive every day to be happy. My blog is linking to both now.
Thank goodness Obama reminded us that hope can prevail over fear and despair. The song you posted reminded me of India Arie's song "There's Hope." The chorus is:
There's hope
It doesn't cost a thing to smile
You don't have to pay to laugh
You better thank God for that
And, of course, the classic Emily Dickinson poem:
Hope is the thing with feathers
That perches in the soul,
And sings the tune without the words,
And never stops at all,
And sweetest in the gale is heard;
And sore must be the storm
That could abash the little bird
That kept so many warm.
I've heard it in the chillest land,
And on the strangest sea;
Yet, never, in extremity,
It asked a crumb of me.
