thanks for providing new insights on such an important topic

Farouk - Thanks for your comment! I think Brett's insights are really important and I'm so glad he shared them with us.

"don't let other people define who you are and deter you from making the change that you know you can make. Change is possible, you just have to go out and get it. If it doesn't come as fast you like, be patient -- uncovering all the years of negativity and emotional wreckage takes a lot of time. Don't rush it, be persistent, don't quit, and I promise that happiness lies on the other side. "

Powerful stuff! I needed to read this today!

Thank you!

Carmen - I agree that Brett's post is really powerful. It was great for me to read it when he sent it over to me. Change can be really hard -- I know that first hand -- but it IS possible. Brett's story reminds me of my own in many ways and, for that reason, is really inspiring to me!

Dani,

Thanks so much for letting me guest post here. I'm glad you and your readers have managed to find some value in my story!

Brett

what up Brett! glad to see you on here!

speaking of girls, I am about to be in kind of awkward love triangle thing tonight so posts like this really help.

change IS possible and its happening right now =)

Brett, it's nice to see you were inspired by Ayn Rand - I think that is a great start for many people. I actually have a quote of hers currently up on my dry-erase board. It says,

"Evil requires the sanction of the victim."

Rand is all about self-empowerment. If one is pursuing a path of excellence, there are no excuses, you just do what it takes.

Brett - You're welcome! I was very inspired by your story and I'm sure my readers have been too. Thank you so much for writing this and sharing your experiences and insights.

Rocky - Good luck with that love triangle! Those can be tricky!! Change definitely is possible and it's happening all the time (whether or not we like it!).

Steven - Rand is definitely an inspiration for many people. That's a great quote you've shared with us and that's one of the things I love most about Rand, that she focuses on self-empowerment. Great comment!

My trouble with so many people, especially negative people, is that they feel they are stuck in where they are. My (soon to be) ex is like that..."this is just who I am"...well, ok, but the desire to change, has to come from within.

Your simple list is so accurate. If more people would just embrace how easy it can be to change your outlook, and have more of what YOU have...a wonderful world would we have.

Dawn - That's a great point. So many people are stuck where they are and, no matter where they are in life, it's important to have a desire to change because change, in many ways in inevitable. I'm glad you liked Brett's post. It was very inspiring!

Ditch those self-limiting beliefs! We tell ourselves stories every day and we don't have to. Great post :-)

Michelle - I agree! Brett's post is a great reminder of how we can ditch self-limiting beliefs. We have the power to control our own stories. Thanks for your comment!
