Perfect opener, perfect pics, and perfect lessons from Wonderland. Beautiful job!

This is my first time visiting your blog...GREAT post! I LOVE Alice in Wonderland and can't wait to see the movie! It's going to be awesome in 3D!

J.D. - Thank you! I obviously really love Alice in Wonderland and I'm glad my work on this post was able to portray that beautifully.

Lise - I'm so happy you found Positively Present! It's great to have you as a reader and I hope you stop by again. I'm SO looking forward to seeing the movie tonight in 3D!!

I like that you brought up the question of knowing 'who' you are. I think it's a question that more people should ask. When you do ask it and you are open to what the world has to say, it can lead you down some very important and meaningful roads.

It completely slipped my mind that Alice was coming out tonight. Thanks for the very pleasant reminder!

Kevin - Thanks for the comment! It's definitely important (though not often easy!) to know who you are in life. It sets the tone for everything you do and encounter. I'm glad I reminded you about Alice. I'm getting very excited to see it!

Stop doing things that get you nowhere. --> I gotta keep this in my head all the time.

Can't wait to see the movie!:)
About this one:
#4Figure out who you are.

I think we don't have to FIND ourselves! We have to CREATE ourselves.
For example: I have always been manysided person, and I spent too much time looking for the answer- WHO AM I REALLY? Which side of mine or talent is the right one? And you know what? I STILL DON'T KNOW! But I know for sure now- WHO I WANT TO BE. everything is easier that way! :)

Meream - I agree that's a very important thing to keep in mind. I find that a lot of people (myself included!) waste a lot of time doing things that don't help them progress in the way they want it. I'm definitely in agreement with the idea of keeping this in our minds all the time!

Zmajeva - The movie was AWESOME! You should definitely see it (in 3D) ASAP. I really enjoyed it and loved the new way Alice was portrayed. She's so much stronger now! And I completely agree with what you've written in your comment about creating ourselves. Life isn't about finding ourselves; it's about MAKING ourselves. You're on the right track, focusing on who you want to be. Another thing to keep in mind: you can have many, many sides of yourself. That's what makes you YOU!

I just have to comment I love your material and read it often.I look forward to more of your posts of intelligent perspectives. You do that so very well.

Sincerely,

Derrick

Such deep wisdom in your words... a lot to think about, reflect on and contemplate for more than a moment, more than an hour, I would dare to say more than a day or even a week! You have a wonderful gift for writing and I hope one day you do find that courage to pull out the novel you mentioned and follow that dream of yours. :)

Sincerely,
laura

Amazing tips i must say. I need to check out the new alice in the wonderland. Figuring out who we really are and believing in the impossible i must say is not an easy thing to do. But if we took the time we could find out how easy it can be to do.

Derrick - Thank you so much! I'm glad that you enjoy Positively Present and I'm really happy to have you as a reader.

Laura - It's definitely a LOT to think about! I really appreciate your compliment about my writing. I really love to do it and I'm fortunate that I have the ability to share it with others. Your encouragement means a lot to me!

Josten - Glad you liked the tips! The new Alice in Wonderland was awesome and I would highly recommend it!

Beautiful Dani. Reading this made me remember what you're saying between the lines in here: the more time you spend with something or somebody, the more you get to know it/them, leaving you more and more in control of what it is that you want out of your life. Fear not to tumble down that rabbit hole, to discover with amazement und wonder, do not judge, but decide, and embrace your life, with all it's got to offer (and so much more). Above all, embrace and cherrish childish wonder, dream the impossible, and the impossible will transform itself to probable. Your insight and your devotion to sharing your discoveries makes you the beautiful soul you've become, and always have been. From 'Brave Girls Club': «... nurture what IS, see what IS, and only look back to be thankful.» ... Snowsparkles, Benno

Benno - Thanks for your great comment! I really appreciate your kind words and your meaningful insights. I love this line in particular: "fear not to tumble down that rabbit hole." It's interesting to think of it as a place from which I can gain knowledge rather than a place to be fearful of. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

I waited to read this post until after I saw the Tim Burton version. I've actually turned my week into "Alice week" in many ways. Over the weekend (while my boyfriend was out of town on a ski trip, I decided to take some "me" time), I watched SyFy's 2009 miniseries, and then the 1999 version with Tina Majorino (both of which were really enjoyed!). I'm hoping to get to the old 1951 Disney classic (which I love), and I'm trying to see if I can access the 1985 miniseries online. And I'm reading a book that is based on Alice Liddell's life. So basically, clearly, I'm really into this story.

Sometimes I think a lot of the paradoxical, nonsensical lines of the movie are very similar to Zen koans--it seems like nonsense, but if you spent time really reflecting on what they mean, there's some truly insightful commentaries on life.

Michelle - I love the idea of "Alice week!" As much as I loved this film and some of the other Alice things I've seen, the 1951 Disney version will always be my absolute favorite. I really like the connection you made to the Zen koans. I never thought about it that way before but it's really true!

This was so helpful for me, me and a friend of mine are writing a story that is a musical come to life, at the end of every 'adventure' The two main characters must tell Glinda the lesson of the play they just went through, and I could't figure out the lesson of Alice in Wonderland. :)

Mallory - Glad you found this to be helpful! Alice in Wonderland is my favorite film and it was fun for me to think about what I've learned from it (especially this version). Thanks for checking out Positively Present!
