I would have to say that this is totally awesome! I will have to check out this book. That sounds like it would be good to have around.

I have recently experienced some unexpected good fortune in that the charms and pendants that I make, that were inspired after reading the book Four Word Self Help by Patti Digh, are really being embraced the world over. I just sent a package to Sweden, and tomorrow is my first package to Finland. I think that Google Translate is simply awesome, because I can type a short message in the language of my client!

Enjoy the day!
Erin

Wow. I can write a whole lot more. Thanks for the prompt. It's a nice reminder of the awesome things in my life. I may have to continue this list on my own.

Erin - The book (and the site) is definitely awesome. Check 'em out if you can! Sounds like you've had some awesomeness happening to you lately. I've never tried Google Translate, but it sounds like a great way to communicate with people all over the world.

Meghan - Great list! I'm also a big fan of crossing things off of my to-do list. So satisfying!

M. - You listed some awesome things! I love a new journal. Such a great feeling to start with a blank slate. Thanks for sharing these!

Laurie - 27 is a great number (and my age as well!) and you definitely came up with 27 awesome things. I particularly like three green lights in a row. Very awesome!

Ellie - I LOVE putting on clothes right when they've just come out of the dryer. It's such an awesome feeling. Thanks for sharing some awesome stuff!

Stephanie - Your list of awesome things put a smile on my face. It's great that this inspired you to think of lots and lots of awesome things. Good luck with your list!

1.) Waking up smiling and realizing how comfortable you were as you slept. Like your bed has been hugging you. You're not hot, or cold, or contorted in any way. In that moment you are content, so comfortable and cozy in fact, you decide to sleep more.

2.) The great feeling you get when you look back at a child in your car, and he smiles back with a simple grin and squinty eyes from the wind and sun.

3.) Surprise birthday vacations to New York City.

4.) Hot, hot shower after a cold winter day, whether it is needed or not.

I didn't realize adding a comment would make me think of all the simple, awesome things I love about my life, so thank you :) (don't worry, these four aren't the only ones). Thank you for the contest, and I really love your site, it's been very inspiring to me. Looking forward to many more posts.

- When one of your favorite blogs recommend another of your favorite blogs!!
- When a song you used to love, but have forgotten, pops up totally unexpectedly somewhere! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a28s_wyqkyc - Very positively present'ish btw)!

AWESOME!

Alissa - Great list! I especially like the first one. We often take for granted how awesome a good night's sleep in a comfortable bed is. I'm glad you were inspired by this post and that you enjoy reading Positively Present. It inspires me to know I'm inspiring other people, so thank you for letting me know that you enjoy it!

Thea - Ooh, that IS an awesome one! I'm so glad to here Positively Present is one of your favs. I also love the song "Wonderful." The first time I heard it, I felt instantly inspired. Thanks for reminding me of it. Awesome!

. Passing all the exams and be carefree for a while
. Wander in any city (even if I know it)

These are some of my favorite awesome things:
-Feeling the ends of your hair when you have just cut it.
-Remembering something that happened before and laughing out loud when you´re by yourself.
-Hitting ENTER really hard.
-Learning new words and feeling super smart.
-Watching a movie you used to love when you were a kid and realizing you still love it.

Nat - Oooh, chocolate chip cookies are a favorite of mine, as are snow days and long weekends. Great additions to the awesome things list!

LIFE!!!

Okay - I have a hard time with this. I've been more cynical than grateful in my life. So I cannot, right now, come up with 117 things, or 100 things, or even 10 things. I can give you TWO, though, that are at the forefront of my current experience:
1) The fragrance of the south in the springtime - honeysuckle is EVERYWHERE!
2) My neighbor's horse. I don't currently have a dog, but I can go back and visit him (as long as I bring some treats), and he will nuzzle me like a big, dangerously powerful, loving dog.

Some of my awesomes are:
a. Hearing my son talk (especially when he is in speech therapy) - his voice is that of an angel (he is 17 and started making word noises at the age of 13). The first time he called me MOM.... AWESOME!
b. When you teach a student something and you look in their eyes and can actually see that light bulb go off - that look of understanding.... It is hard to describe in words... AWESOME!
c. Waking up from a surgery and the moment that the nurse tells you "it is over - you did great! .... AWESOME!
d. Sitting down for the first time on a busy day to take a hot sip of fresh coffee... wowsa... AWESOME!
e. Looking at the first crocus bloom peeking out of some snow and grass after a looonnnngggg winter! Oh So AWESOME!!!!!
and last:
f. still sitting down every night to write 5 things I am thankful for... which helps me to be positive through 3 kids with autism, having cancer and a recent death of my baby brother.... It is all how I look at things...
not AWESOME for me - but AWESOME that I read that book Simple Abundance years ago and it taught me to do this... so I appreciate every day that I am here on this earth!
Thank you for this opportunity to share my Awesomisms....

Here are 10 things I've noticed recently:

1 - forgetting a holiday is coming up, and then getting excited for it
2 - the moment before it rains really hard when you can see the dark sky AND the light sky behind it.
3 - the cinnamon milk after eating Cinnamon Toast Crunch
4 - cute tiny houses
5 - when a friend unexpectedly gives you a hard to find gift they know you've been looking for
6 - realizing the door is open when you think your keys are locked in the car
7 - vanilla bean ice cream with blueberries, raspberries, and baked apples
8 - homemade crafts
9 - the tired feeling you get after spending all day in the sun at the beach
10 - the trackpad on my Mac

Tricia - Great one! Life is pretty awesome!

Cara - I've spent a lot of my life being incredibly cynical so I know where you're coming from. It can be hard, when looking at the world through a cynical lens, to find anything that's really awesome. However, you've listed two really great ones. Honeysuckle is amazing (I just spotted some the other day!) and I used to ride horses so I always have a soft spot in my heart for them. Those are two very awesome things!

Sue and Danny - Those things are all SO awesome! Thank you for sharing your list. It's amazing to me that, despite the fact that some could see the negative in things like surgery, you've chosen to focus on the positive aspects. Very inspiring!

Dana - Wow! Those are all really great things. Cinnamon Toast Crunch is my favorite so I was particularly drawn to that one. I also just realized, after reading this, that I have a long weekend coming up due to a holiday. AWESOME!

Awesome:
Having your Grand child squeal your name with delight

Celebrate each Friday with a "Friday Dance"

A hot cup of coffee when you're feeling chilly

Friends who laugh with you - sometimes at you - and allow you to return the favor

Right now I can only think of one awesome thing....reading this list & realizing that my life IS awesome & how thankful I am right now, here......

Your blog is powerfully wonderful and wonderfully powerful.

Awesome things of right now:
*rain
*my sleepy dog
*a little spontaneous kiss from my daughter as I helped her zip her sweater
*swinging
*hot beverages
*having dental insurance
*a good book
*the smell of firewood
*Fridays
*the month of May
*toast and jam
*the Sunday paper that lasts me all week
*reading my old childhood favorites on my daughter's floor as she listens in rapt attention
*writers who remind me to make lists like this

Thank you.

Marcia - A Friday Dance is definitely awesome! It's always so fun to celebrate the start of the weekend. Friends and laughter are two awesome things I'm also really grateful for!

Ashley - That is quite an awesome list! I love it! You've thought of so many awesome things to be grateful for in life. I particularly liked the one about the few days leading up to someone coming home from war. I've never experienced anything like that, but I imagine it must be an amazingly awesome feeling. Thanks for sharing your list!

Dariana - You're welcome! I'm so happy you feel inspired -- and also so happy that you shared your awesome list of awesome things with us. I'm also a big fan of a Mac computer and inspiring women (and a lot of other things on your list as well!)

Carol - Just two days ago I saw a rainbow and it was amazing! I spotted it from my apartment balcony and then ran outside to see it because I was so excited. Such an awesome thing! Thanks for sharing your list!

Waking up in the morning...and everything that follows.

When they share a part of themselves
The unexpected hug
Being told "It's official, you're my favorite person to work with"
Knowing I'm appreciated
Allowing myself the space I need to grow

I think I could maybe could keep going...but I wanted to share with you...
I like palm trees too!

3)My Zumba class

Maria - Thank you for reading! I appreciate it! I'm glad you were able to share some awesome things here. Love them!

An unexpected spell of rain

Watching the passing panorama, sitting by the window on a train

The fragrance of rain-kissed earth

Catching up with an old friend, and sharing precious moments of rambunctious mirth

A hot cup of steamy, ginger tea on a winter afternoon

The colourful sights at a beach - vendors of trinkets, and eats, and balloons

A lovely day out at a favourite bookstore

Answering the call bell to find a much-loved one waiting at the door

Serene moments with nature, especially sunset

A blessed, childlike sleep, with every care to forget...

Priya - What a great list! So many awesome thing! I particularly like the colorful sights at the beach. Just thinking about that put a smile on my face!

the gentle rise and fall of my sleeping baby's chest

Amy - Thanks for sharing that awesome thing! I don't have a baby, but I would imagine that watching your sleeping baby would be pretty awesome.

Just reading your list made my day start to get better. I can't wait to work on a list of my own, maybe write one thing a day & celebrate that thing for the day.

I can't agree more with the wagging tails & running while a pet sleeps. It doesn't matter how horrible a day has felt to me, when I see that everything is so much better. Pets have an amazing thing about them that they can do just about anything to brighten your day.

Apocklypse - I'm glad this list helped your day get off to a better start! I'm so glad you liked the pet ones in particular. My dog is one of the greatest sources of joy in my life. She makes every day so much better!
