so sorry you had to go through this! And so happy you found Bella!

Erin - Thanks so much! It was definitely one of the worst things I've ever been through, but I'm soooo thankful we found her. Thanks for your comment!

OMG I cried when I read the whole story about Saturday! I'm so happy you were able to find her. A lot of people don't end up that lucky :( Hopefully you will never have to go through that again!!

PLF - Aww! It was so sad being away from her and not knowing where she was (especially when it got dark out!). I'm so, so, so happy she was found and is safe and sound right now. Thanks for your help with the suggestions! I'm pretty sure I'm never letting her out of my sight again (ha! not sure how I'm going to go to work tomorrow...) so I doubt she'll ever escape again!

OMG! Powerful and moving. I was holding my breath while reading this story. You had me all the way. I am so very happy you found your precious Bella, and your steps at the end of the piece were a gift. Thanks.

O man! That sounds like a vary scary and overwhelming day! I'm so glad you found Bella and she is happily home with you now! My dog goes everywhere with me and is like a member of our little family so I can only imagine the way you must have felt when you couldn't find Bella! My Friends dog ran away recently and after she found him I sent this website to her. It made her laugh and hopefully it will brighten your day as well!

SO GLAD YOU FOUND HER!!! OMG!!!

Tears! I'm so glad you found Bella. Sorry you and Bella had to experience that. Very glad to hear so many stepped in to help. I don't have a pet but have definitely seen and experienced (w/ a friend's dog) how strong of a bond that is. So glad she's home safe!

Cheryl - Thanks for commenting! I'm so glad I found her as well. I'm glad you enjoyed the tips as well. As hard as the experience was, I'm grateful that I was given a chance to share my advice here.

Kym - It was scary and overwhelming for sure! It's amazing how quickly everything can change. One minute everything was fine; the next, my life was turned upside down. Thanks for sending the website over too!

Tara - ME TOO! It was such a hard thing to go through but I am so grateful to have her back. Just watching her sleeping on the couch right now is making me so happy!

Saggleo - Thank you! I'm so glad as well. It was so horrible not to know where she was, especially when it got dark and I grew more hopeless. So many people are not lucky enough to find their lost dogs and I'm so thankful that we found her!

Oh, sweetie...I can only imagine the heartache and panic you must have felt, can only believe that the depths of that was only alluded to in this post. I'm so relieved that you found your sweet Bella -- I'm sure she is just as relieved and happy to be home and with you again.

Much love.

Oh my, what a story! I too have a Maltese - we also call her Bella! She is sat with me now and I kept looking at her throughout your post. I'm so so pleased you found her ... Unthinkable to lose a pet through such circumstances. God bless the Bellas of this world! Jules x

Susan - I'm so relieved as well. It was a traumatic experience for everyone involved and we're all so fortunate that it had a happy ending. Thanks for sending love our way!

Jules - How funny that you also have a Maltese named Bella! They are wonderful, amazing animals and I'm incredibly grateful that I was reunited with mine. :) I'm not taking a moment with her for granted now!

I have been there, when a couple of the dogs got out. It was terrible as we went up and down the roads looking for them. I think that it is great that you got Bella back. I felt similar relief when I found our two.

Syd - Thanks! I'm still so thankful to have her back with me. I'm glad you found your dogs as well. It's the worst feeling to know they are lost.

I just read this blog and it gave me hope. My dog went missing on April 2, last Monday morning to be exact and I've been back and forth with my emotions. One day I'm fine and thinking positive and then the next moment, I'm crying my eyes out. I've put up signs, visited shelters, but have yet to talk to each neighbor, which I will do today. Thank you for encouraging me to have hope to find my dog!

Kamille - I'm so sorry to hear about your dog! I'll keep you in my thoughts. Don't give up hope!!

Thank you for your post. It is comforting to know that others cherish their pets as I do. My black kitty Guino is lost. I found him when I lived in Mexico, a tiny kitten trapped in the cage of a water meter on the side of a building on a busy street. I had recently left my now ex-husband and was very alone when he came into my life. Then, years later, I lost my home, my job, a relationship, hope for a family, my social circle, a country and culture that had become my home all in 2 weeks. Guino was there for me when there seemed no other reason to continue living. On days that I felt unable to breathe, didn't eat and couldn't leave my bed, his mischeif could somehow make me smile. Now he has been lost for 7 days, and it is torture. I will never stop hoping. He will always be my very best friend.

Regan - I'm so sorry to here about Guino. It sounds like he was such a wonderful comfort for you during hard times. I will keep hoping that you find him. Cats are very resourceful and they are able to find the way home easily. I'll be thinking of you!
